South Yorkshire Asylum Patient Admissions and Discharges 1872 – 1911

Indexed transcriptions of the hospital ledgers containing the names of patients in the South Yorkshire Asylum which opened in 1872.  Over its lifetime this institution was also known as Wadsley Asylum and later as Middlewoood Hosital. Numbers of patients who died at the asylum were buried in nearby Wadsley churchyard. The information includes the name of the patient, date of admission and discharge or death, age, occupation, abode and nature of illness.  The hospital closed in 1996.
